Note 1: Hong Kong Customs: travellers aged 18 or above may bring 1 litre of alcoholic liquor above 30% ABV (at 20°C) duty-free for personal use; Hong Kong ID card holders must have been outside Hong Kong for 24 hours or more. Hong Kong only taxes liquor above 30% ABV, so sake and other drinks at 30% or less aren't dutiable.

Note 2: Customs Administration, Ministry of Finance (Taiwan): from January 25, 2025 the personal duty-free alcohol limit rose from 1L to 1.5L, with no limit on the number of bottles; only travellers aged 18 or older may bring alcohol. Use the red channel to declare and pay tax on any excess.

Note 3: Singapore Customs: travellers aged 18 or older who spent at least 48 hours outside Singapore and are not arriving from Malaysia may choose one combination: 1L spirits + 1L wine, 1L spirits + 1L beer, 1L wine + 1L beer, 2L wine, or 2L beer. Duty and GST apply to anything over, and more than 10 litres needs a Customs permit.

Note 4: Korea Customs Service: the alcohol allowance is up to 2L in total and no more than US$400, separate from the US$800 general allowance. Travellers under 19 (by year of birth) get no alcohol allowance.

Note 5: U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP): one liter (33.8 fl. oz.) of alcoholic beverages may be included in a returning resident's personal exemption if you are at least 21, it is for personal use and not for sale, and it doesn't violate the laws of the state where you arrive; any amount over one liter is subject to duty and internal revenue tax. For non-resident visitors, see CBP's guidance.

Note 6: Thai Customs: up to 1 litre of alcoholic beverages is duty-free for arriving passengers; anything over must be declared or you may be prosecuted. Alcohol bought in duty-free shops is subject to the same quantity limit.

Note 7: Australian Border Force (ABF): travellers 18 or older may bring 2.25 litres of alcohol duty-free, wherever it was bought; there is no alcohol concession for anyone under 18. If you exceed the limit, duty and tax apply to all items of that type (alcohol), not just the excess.

Note 8: New Zealand Customs Service: travellers aged 17 or older may bring 4.5 litres of wine or beer and 3 bottles (or other containers) of spirits or liqueur, each holding no more than 1.125 litres; anything over is subject to full duties.

Note 9: Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA): residents away 48 hours or more may bring one of the following duty- and tax-free: up to 1.5 litres of wine, up to 1.14 litres of alcoholic beverages (liquor), or up to 8.5 litres of beer or ale. You must meet the minimum age of the province or territory where you enter (18 in Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec, 19 elsewhere). Amounts over the allowance are taxed, and provincial limits also apply.

Note 10: GOV.UK (arriving in Great Britain): personal allowances are 42 litres of beer and cider, 18 litres of wine, 4 litres of spirits and other alcohol over 22% ABV, and 9 litres of alcoholic products up to 22% ABV (not including beer, cider or wine); the 4-litre and 9-litre allowances can be split.
